Sawgrass Technologies, Inc. and STS Refill Technology have entered into a long-term license agreement under which STS, as an authorized Sawgrass licensee, will sell digital inks for sublimation imaging.

“STS is the latest licensee to recognize the depth of our patent portfolio,” said Nathan Hale, CEO of Sawgrass Technologies. “We have new patents being issued all the time and a portfolio that continues to be relevant well into the future. STS is one of the younger companies in our industry, and it is nice to see new innovation continuing in what we believe is still a very early growth phase of an explosive market for digital printing.”

“STS has collaborated with Sawgrass on various projects because we share a common belief in producing high-quality digital products,” said STS Founder Shahar Turgeman. “We value our relationship with Sawgrass and look forward to selling our licensed products globally.”

STS Inks/Opaltone

7-Colour eXpanded gamut (XG) reproduction using CMYK+RGB colorants

The CMYK process was invented in the late 19th century. Over 140 years later, CMYK remains the industry standard for the digital reproduction of colour in print. It is well documented that the CMYK gamut is restricted, hence the need to complement the process using clean, bright spot colours that fall outside the CMYK gamut. In digital printing, it is not viable or cost-effective to print spot colours. They must be digitally simulated in CMYK, often leaving the print buyer disappointed with the outcome. The new approach is to complement CMYK with extra-trinary colorants. For example, CMYK+RGB. This presentation covers the latest developments in XG colour for inkjet including: colorant, density and TVI standards, 7-colour separation software and profiling.

STS Inks has developed an innovative Plug & Print technology that allows the user to simply swap OEM cartridges with STS Inks and continue printing without any notable difference in color or print quality.

This innovative technology saves the user time and money by eliminating the need to flush the ink lines or having to create and install additional color profiles in order to use the new ink.

Our Plug & Print ink matching technology is the result of many years of Research and Development and allows STS Inks to create compatible inks that are a perfect match to their OEM counterparts by identifying key properties that are essential for the production of an almost identical ink.

No flushing, no profiling it’s Plug & Print just like the original.

The G7 System Certification Program evaluates the ability of a software system to calibrate a printing device to meet the G7 grayscale definition using four 1-D Curves.

Idealliance established a certification process to evaluate the ability of a software system to calibrate a printing device to meet the G7 grayscale definition using four 1-D curves and support the application of the G7 methodology in process control.

G7 Certified Systems are certified by Rochester Institute of Technology to meet or exceed established industry tolerances and are capable of calibrating a printing device to meet the G7 grayscale definition.

Accompanying each G7 Certified System is an Application Data Sheet (ADS), designed to assist print producers and end users in the proper use and operation of their system.

Utilizing a G7 Certified System ensures the ability to operate a consistent G7-managed workflow, which has been proven to expand efficiencies, reduce costs of operation, and speed time to market of printed materials.
